Multiple postdoctoral fellow positions in medical physics are available in the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. 

Successful candidates will work on projects related to image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using cone beam CT (CBCT), PET and optical imaging.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in engineering, computer sciences or physical sciences with a strong background in computational mathematics. Strong computer programming skills are required.

Multiple postdoctoral positions available in medical physics

Multiple postdoctoral fellow positions in medical physics are available in the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Successful candidates will work on projects related to image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using cone beam CT (CBCT), MRI, PET and fluoroscopic imaging. The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in engineering, computer or physical sciences with strong computational mathematics background. Experiences in MatLab and C++ programming are essential. Experience in medical imaging (devices or image processing), imageguided radiation therapy or molecular imaging is a plus. The Department has a CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency program and participates in the UT Southwestern Biomedical Engineering and Radiological Sciences Graduate Program. Post-doctoral researchers will have opportunity to participate in clinical activities. A certificate program will be opened soon to provide a pathway to CAMPEP residency programs for post-docs.

Facility and Equipment: The Department of Radiation Oncology currently has 14 faculty-level physicists, three medical physics residents, 8 full time dosimetrists, two service and research engineers, and three IT specialists. The Department has a total of 17 physicians and 8 residents who provide services to over 160 patients per day treated on the main campus with state-of-the-art machines and techniques. Our main facility has two Varian linear accelerators with dynamic MLC, one Varian Trilogy linear accelerator with OBI, two Varian True Beam linear accelerators, a BrainLAB Vero system, an Elekta Synergy-S, an Elekta Gamma Knife, Accuray Cyberknife, two Philips 16-slice Brilliance large-bore 4-D CT simulator, two Vision RT systems, two Calypso electromagnetic tracking systems, Varisource HDR, and Philips Pinnacle, Varian Eclipse and BrainLAB iPlan treatment planning systems.

Environment: With five Nobel Laureates and 22 members of the National Academy of Sciences currently on faculty, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world. The Departments of Radiation Oncology and Radiology are an integral part of the NCI-designated Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center which provides exceptional opportunities for translation of laboratory science into clinical trials and provides an integrated program of medical, radiation, and surgical oncology.
