“新常态，Do or Die” 中国科大南加州校友会圆满落幕

 2014年12月28日，距离2015年不到100个小时，中国科大南加州校友会在加州理工学院举办跨年暨校友聚会活动，在短短的一天内组织组织了职业发展论坛、校友高峰论坛、南加州校友会发展论坛、校友欢乐聚餐等活动，为前来参加活动的100余位南加州地区的校友献上了一份知识丰富，内涵深刻的精神大餐。

鉴于校友中学生群体所占比例较大，职业发展成为校友论坛中必不可少的话题。本次活动校友会请到了来自“北美直通车”的刘方女士，从HR的角度为大家详细讲解了在美国找工作的方式和注意事项，同时也邀请了有20余年行业经验的孙虹律师为大家解答了OPT、工作签证、绿卡申请等备受关注的问题。

草坪上的Team Play

轻松愉快的午餐会过后，草坪上玩团队合作的小游戏引发了大家一阵阵的欢声笑语，加州冬日的暖阳荡漾在每个人的笑脸上。

下午的校友高峰论坛由安峰（7802）、田俐（8508）、Chen Yuan(8003)三位重量级的校友依次现身，分别发表了主题演讲并与年轻校友分享了他们的人生经历，为学弟学妹们今后的职业发展提供了宝贵的建议。

在下午最后的南加州校友会发展论坛上，在座校友各抒己见、荐言荐策，为校友会未来的发展提出了很多宝贵的意见。中国科大南加州校友会总结：自去年校友会举办类似活动以来，受到了南加地区校友的广泛好评，校友会考虑将此类活动常态化开办，校友会发展也进入“新常态”，以更好地为南加州地区的校友服务。同时要发扬“不要命的上科大”的科大精神，为促进校友凝聚力搭好平台，“Do or Die”。同时，南加州著名的松竹梅22校校友会2015年的活动将由中科大联合交通大学主办，2015年对于中科大南加州校友会来说必将是不平凡的一年，让我们拭目以待。

 

Keynote Speaker Biographies


Dr. 田俐 (8508), came to US in 1990 after she got her B.S. degree in biology from USTC. She holds a Ph.D. in pathobiology from USC in 1996. Started working in Packard Biosciences in the same month, as international sales application scientist. In about 20 years of career in biotech industry, Li has worked in sales, marketing, product development, product management, business management where she managed businesses from $10 to $150 million in annual revenue. Last job Li had for four years before she left biotech industry to be on her own, was in merger and acquisition and integration of acquired companies, leading commercial integration for sales and marketing, as well as facilitating a $16 billion dollar acquisition as her last job in the industry. 


Dr. 安峰 (7802), with over 20 years of experience in academia, business, governmental and non-governmental organizations, is now a world-renowned expert in energy technologies, automotive fuel economy strategies, and climate change policies. He founded iCET in California and Beijing and led it to develop multi-faceted programs in China in the areas of low carbon transportation, carbon management, clean energy and sustainable technologies. Prior to founding iCET, Dr. An served in numerous national and international institutions with various capacities: senior consultant for USAID (1994-1997), associate research professor at UC Riverside (1994 – 1997), and senior applied physicist at Argonne National Laboratory (1998-2006). In the past decade, He has advised governments in China, US, EU, Mexico, Brazil, India and Thailand on energy, automotive fuel economy, and climate policies. Dr. An received his B.S. degree in physics from USTC, MS from Tsinghua University and PhD from the University of Michigan both in Applied Physics.


Dr. Chen Yuan (813), works both as Professor in molecular medicine and Director in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance at City of Hope, a leading non-profit research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. She got her B.S. degree in chemistry from USTC in 1985 and Ph.D. in biochemistry from Rutgers University in 1991. Yuan started as a postdoctoral fellow and make achievements all the way to professor at City of Hope. She received American Cancer Society Junior Faculty Research Award in 1996. Her research interests include SUMO Modifications, HIV Replication, NMR-based Metabolomics, Application of NMR Methods in Drug Discovery, the Role of SUMOylation in Oncogenesis Ubiquitin-like Modifications.

Fang (Julia) L. Bulanda received her MBA from the University of Illinois (Chicago) in 2011 with years of experiences as the senior education consultant both in China and United States. She has cofounded OfferIN Consulting and America Career Express Association to provide professional and business development consulting services etc. Julia actively volunteers as a career advisor for Chinese oversea students in US.
